Data centres must tackle thermal issues

Many data centres are failing to get to grips with thermal issues, putting their facilities at risk, Vertiv’s Simon Brady, Head of Data Centre Optimisation, EMEA, has warned. “When carrying out surveys, in 2017, I found thermal issues in virtually every case – in fact, it was the number one issue,” commented Brady. “It is rare for me to find a temperature underneath a raised floor anywhere near where it should be.”

Battery Room Explosion

A hydrogen explosion occurred in an Uninterruptible Power Source (UPS) battery room. The explosion blew a 400 ft2 hole in the roof, collapsed numerous walls and ceilings throughout the building, and significantly damaged a large portion of the 50,000 ft2 building.
