Alberto Santos-Dumont required a watch that he could use during his
flights as one of the early aviators. Current watches were impractical
and thus he asked his friend, a French watchmaker called Louis Cartier,
to design him a more practical watch. Although the wristwatch had
already been earlier invented by Patek Philippe, Louis Cartier created
the first practical man's wristwatch.
