IT safety practicalities - recording changes

Changes in an IT environment are important. I wrote previously about using a checklist against your change management process to verify that all the bases are covered (read about it here). But there are a number of things you can do to verify how the changes have been performed as well as to determine when changes are made that are not formal (unauthorized or even hacking). This is a fundamental aspect of IT safety. If we work in an IT environment and don't practice safety we become the equivalence of a smartphone user with a cracked screen.

Battery Room Explosion

A hydrogen explosion occurred in an Uninterruptible Power Source (UPS) battery room. The explosion blew a 400 ft2 hole in the roof, collapsed numerous walls and ceilings throughout the building, and significantly damaged a large portion of the 50,000 ft2 building.
